About Us
Dr. Donald and Mrs. Eleanor Rix established the Rix Family Foundation in 1977. Their inspiration was they believed in giving back to the community by supporting specific causes that make a difference in the lives of people and animals.
For example, Eleanor taught immigrants and disadvantaged adults to read and write. Dr. Rix collected donations for United Way and was struck by how the people who had the least money donated more than the people who were wealthy. These experiences had a lasting impact that led them to commit to always give to the less fortunate.
Dr. Rix believed there was an expectation that those who receive funding from the Foundation would continue to develop partnerships or obtain other sources of funds to enhance the success of their project. He called this the 1 + 1 = 5 Rule.
Today, Dr. Rix’s daughter Laurie carries on the Rix Family Foundation legacy with the same passion and values.
The Rix Family Foundation is a leading philanthropic organization that maximizes the impact of its donations.
