A New Home For Hooves

A Home for Hooves Farm Sanctuary is a registered charity that cares for over 170 rescued farm animals who have been abandoned, seized by the BC SPCA, or surrendered due to various circumstances.  We have been in operation since 2017 and we were the first farm sanctuary in Canada to be accredited by the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries. Our mission is to provide farm animals with a forever home that emulates a natural and enriching environment. We strive to educate the public through sharing knowledge and stories about the lives of farm animals that inspire a compassionate lifestyle.  

In the spring of 2024, we purchased a beautiful 40 acre property in Duncan on Vancouver Island. This new forever home has everything the animals need including three barns, stunning maple trees, numerous pastures, several creeks, and a pond. The Rix Family Foundation was one of the key donors who ensured the success of this capital campaign and their generosity has provided vulnerable farm animals with a safe haven to call home.
